Have you noticed that your teeth are becoming sensitive, your gums tend to bleed, or cavities seem to occur “too easily”?

Often, people think, “I just need to brush better.” But it’s not always just a matter of oral hygiene.
Your mouth isn’t just about your teeth. It’s also a sign of what’s really going on in your body. Your mouth is one of the first places your body signals that something is out of balance.
One very common, but often overlooked, cause is vitamin D deficiency.
Why is it important?
Vitamin D helps your body:
• control inflammation
• support your immune system
• absorb calcium (which is essential for your teeth and bones)
If your vitamin D levels are low, your body can’t use calcium properly and healing processes slow down.
This means:
• enamel becomes weaker
• risk of cavities increases
• gums become more inflamed
• jawbone may weaken over time
• mouth’s natural defenses decrease
What can you notice?
• gums bleed even when you brush gently
• gums are tender or “throb” from time to time
• canker sores or inflammation tend to recur
• mouth does not heal as quickly as before
• teeth feel more sensitive or weak
This means that your body may need more support.
Two simple steps to start:
Check your vitamin D levels (blood test)
Support it consciously if necessary:
• diet (e.g. oily fish, eggs)
• sunlight
• high-quality vitamin D3
Oral health does not just start with your toothbrush, it starts from the inside.
Sometimes your mouth doesn’t just need better brushing,
but your whole body needs more balance.
If you feel that these signs are familiar to you, feel free to come for a consultation.
